Summer in Hermanus is from November to February and looks sunny, crowded and fun. During South Africa’s national school holidays in December, Hermanus swells with visitors and the town offers beach days, wine tastings, late sunsets and long hot days.

Autumn from March to May brings cooler weather and is ideal for long walks along the coastal path or exploring the fynbos in the mountains surrounding Hermanus.

Winter is the rainy season and the perfect time to see indigenous flowers like proteas in bloom and sampling the excellent Pinot Noirs and other red wines from the Overberg in front of a roaring fre. During June, the first of the Southern right whales arrive to spend their birthing months in the ocean of Walker Bay. The Hermanus FineArts Festival is also held in June.

Spring is springing with jumping whales and is the time of festivals with the annual Whale and Eco-Marine festival held at the end of September.
